I look around and all I see is the same old titles being pushed by the ARRL. These are, for the most part, great publications, but they're the same publications, updated, of course, that we've been seeing year after year after year. Where's the new, offbeat stuff? Where are all the writers? Where's the short stories on camping operations and motorcycle-mobile trips? Where's the aeronautical mobile stories? You know, QST isn't the only game in town. You don't need someone's approval to publish your book, booklet or story. The web makes it easy for anyone to publish now. You don't need a conventional publisher. How about electronic publishing? Publish your work as a .PDF file and deliver it to the customer by e-mail. Your only costs would be your marketing costs. QST and CQ magazines will gladly accept your ad for your self-published work. So will the major forum sites. Get online now and learn about the pros and cons of self-publishing, if you haven't already done so. There's a million things involving Amateur Radio that haven't been written about and there are many, many good writers out there that could be writing them. Unfortunately, too many of them are spending their talents trading barbs with others at a couple of the well-known Amateur Radio forum sites. Here's an idea: Do what I've done here. Set up a website and start writing! Nothing could be easier! I'm living proof that you don't really have to know how to write… all you have to do is do it! 73, WF5TX
